Proposed Rent Increase

Proposed Rent Increase 2017/2018.

Rents may rise 0.3%.

A proposal is being put to Stirling Council to raise rents by 0.3% for the year 2017/2018.  The proposal will be considered by the full Council in February 2017. This could mean an average rent increase between 2p per week and 10p per week depending on the size of your property that you live in.

Senior Officers have calculated a shortfall in the Housing Budget of £56,000, which maintains the current level of services and inflation, together with staffing costs increase. The rent rise, as it is proposed, will see further consultation being considered between now and January 2017 in order to seek tenants' views.  The results of this together with the survey across tenants groups, focus groups will be presented to the Housing Advisory Group at the end of January 2017.

The results of the consultation will allow the Council to make an informed decision based on the information received from tenants and a report from Housing Department Officers.
